Thalassophile's

So the next plan was to go to the beach on Sunday morning, and go to the waterpark on Tuesday. The family and I got everything prepared and packed in the car for the beach Saturday night. Unfortunately, Kayla woke up in the middle of the night with another bad fever, a bad belly ache, and throwing up. We got her to go to the bathroom and her fever came back down again. We had to break the news though, that we couldn't go to the beach on Sunday. We agreed though, that if she went the whole day without a fever we would go to the beach on Monday. So instead of the beach my mom and I decided to take the boys to the waterpark. The weather was beautiful. It wasn't too hot and there was just enough breeze to keep you cool. I didn't get many pictures of that day, because we were on the go pretty much the whole time.

Mom did try to drown herself several times that day. Those waves really beat her up. The boys and I were a little farther in the water when I saw her go down. Every time she tried to get up another wave would knock her back down. I rescued her though. She tried to drown herself again when we were in the lazy river. She was trying to position herself better in the inner tube, when she flipped over. I only saw the end result. Landen and I went down the tube slides, while mamma and Carter went over the the big bucket. When we got off Landen and Mamma decided to go down the slides. Given her swim history of the day, I bet Carter a $1 that she wouldn't make it off the slide on the inner tube. Wouldn't you know it, she made it down and into the water on that tube. I paid up when we got home! It was a good day.

Kayla went the whole day with no fever. So next up was the beach! I was particularly excited because I've only ever really been to the beach a handful of times with my mom and dad. It was another beautiful day. The breeze on the beach was PERFECT. For as hot as it was, it certainly didn't feel it. I didn't get any pictures of Aidan in the water AGAIN, but I did get some of him playing in the tent. He wasn't awake for very long. We were there about an hour when I laid him in his stroller to nap. He then napped for about 3 hours. He only got in the water one time that day. Maybe next time he can enjoy it a little longer. Everyone else though seemed to have had a blast. Kayla kept to herself for most of the day and played in the sand at the waters edge. Landen is a dare devil. I have to watch him very closely as he likes to go farther in to catch the good waves. I don't allow him to wear his cochlear's in the ocean, so we always need to be more cautious with him not being able to hear us or the lifeguard.

Isle of Palms is by far our favorite beach so far. The facilities at the county park are excellent. If we didn't have young kids we probably wouldn't go to the county park. We go there for the convenience. It's not always an easy task taking 3 kids and a baby to the beach.

Mark was taking pictures with his phone and we didn't realize that his megapixel was turned down to a 6 when it could have been a 16. So they didn't come out very clear.

Mark cooked hot dogs on the grill for everyone. The difference in temperature between that picnic table and our spot on the beach was ridiculous. It was hotter than snot sitting there. It felt like my skin was melting. Mark and I traded off because we didn't want to wake mister up from his nap.
FIRST RULE OF MOM CLUB---NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING BABY! NEVER!

Mom and I got taken out by a couple gnarly waves. It was quite the scene trying to help her back up! After a couple minutes she had had enough, and made her way out. Then Mark took her place. We went out a little farther. The waves were really starting to get big. I lost my favorite headband after a big one. My good friend Katie had given it to me. I searched for it to no avail. I'm really bummed about it. The waves and current were starting to get a little too strong for comfort. So we headed in and packed up for the day.

I think everyone had fun. We were there a lot longer than we normally are. It was a long and very fun day! We'll go again soon....

p.s. For anyone wondering what thalassophiles means, it means lovers of the sea or water. And that we do!!!
