The summer heat has arrived in all of it's hellish glory, along with a new hurricane season. It's HOT! Like REALLY hot. The "real feel" is usually over a 100 degrees. Later in the summer it is usually around 113-115 with the heat index. I don't understand why this city or any of the surrounding cities don't have public pools. They could potentially make more money, as our hot season lasts a lot longer. It generally starts getting hot around March and doesn't cool down until November. They have a number of water parks but they are inconvenient and expensive. In Ohio, there are quite a few community pools. West Carrollton was always my favorite.
This past weekend was fun! I didn't feel good for most of it, but I pulled up my big girl panties and pushed through it. Saturday was Bottle Rocket Derby day with Pack 725! It was hellish hot, but it was still fun.

We got there right at 10am and the kids immediately started working hard on their rockets!

And then like that, they were done. Time to fill 'em with water and get those babies in the air!

We ate some delicious food at the picnic and called it a day around 12:30. Little Mister was in dire need of a nap and everyone was complaining about being hot. It was a really fun day. The kids had a blast shooting their bottles off.

Sunday was scout day at Whirlin Waters Waterpark. We weren't entirely sure if the severe storms forecasted for the day were going to hold out or not. Nonetheless, we had already paid to go and ordered Landen's scout day patch. We met up with our good friend Julie, her kids, and her mom. It turned out to be a pretty decent day after all. Their severe weather policy states that if the park is closed for one consecutive hour you can come back on another day for free. We were secretly hoping that it would storm a little later in the day..ha! Anyways, we went to the 11am program. A police officer talked to the kids about summer safety. What to do in dangerous situations, like if a friend finds a gun and wants to play with it (which I actually just had a conversation with them about a week or two ago), or what to do if someone you don't know approaches you at the park.

Little Mister REALLY wanted that foot in his mouth. I had know idea he could bend over that far. Ha. As usual Landen the daredevil was off to enjoy the water slides with his friends.

And then you have Julies entrance into the water. It looked refreshing. Knowing my luck, I probably wouldn't have even made it to the water on the tube.
Little Misters first time on a water slide. He was kicking his feet in the water. His face doesn't show his excitement, but it was there.
Here comes Carter....
Daddy, Kayla, and Carter are waiting for the bucket to tip over.

The bigger kids spent a lot of their time in the wave pool with Mark and Julie and in the lazy river. Mister was starting to get fussy, so I knew it was time to eat a take a short nap. The sky started looking REALLY dark and Julie wanted to race Mark down the racer slides before the sky let loose.
Everyone raced two more times while Kayla, Aidan, and I went back over by the kiddie pool. Aidan loved his new floatie (I didn't get a picture of him in it :( maybe next time). Just about 3:10 we heard the lifeguards blow their whistles telling everyone to get out of the water. The park was temporarily closing due to severe weather. They were closed for the rest of the day. YES!! We get to go back again for FREE!!
