The Missing Pieces

Everyday that passes something new is happening within my body. New symptoms arise almost daily. Yesterday was a pretty good day overall. My mom ran me over to Roper St. Francis Hospital in Moncks Corner for my CT scan. Then we stopped by Target and picked up a few things. I seemed to have had a decent amount of energy. Over this last week I've had bad abdominal pain starting from just under the breast reaching down into the pelvis. Eating and drinking makes the pain severely worse. Severe bloating is also big issue. My mom and dad took the family and I out to dinner last night (Kicken Chicken-YUMMY), and I ate pretty good. The first time in awhile. After I got home though I started feeling really bad and I laid down early. I woke up in bad pain around 2am and couldn't go back to sleep until it was time for the boys to go to school. I woke up around 9:30 and still had some pain in the abdomen but it wasn't nearly as bad, My skin had started to hurt to the touch though. Especially in my neck/throat area. As the day has went on pretty much all of my skin hurts to the touch. It's to the point on my neck where I can't move my jaw or swallow very well. Mark doesn't need to worry about me talking tonight-haha! Nothing I have here at the house is helping the pain. My whole body is painful. A warm bath might be in my future.

The never ending puzzle pieces are being put together. Dr. Hyson had ordered two new blood tests on Monday checking to see if anything viral had been going on.

The CMV test came back negative but on the higher end of the reference range.

The EBV test, tests for Epstein Barr Virus. Now I had mono in high school, so I have had a past infection associated with this virus. The normal typical range is 0.0-17.9 and my value was 337. All of the other values were on the higher end as well. I've done a lot of research on this particular virus in association with the onset of Lupus and it's very interesting. Once you have had the virus, the virus will always lie dormit inside you a lot like chicken pox and shingles. The Epstein Barr virus can reactivate later in life just like the shingles. If you are a bearer of the lupus gene, the activation of the virus can activate lupus. There have been many studies on the subject and the correlation between the two entities are unreal. You can read a little more about it here. I did get the urinalysis results back and there were 3 small abnormalities. There were some trace amounts of Ketones, and a moderate amount of calcium oxalate crystals. He didn't seem to be too concerned and said we would talk about it at our next visit. I'm still waiting on the results of my CT scan. He is ordering an ultrasound of my abdomen for the abdominal pain I'm experiencing and we'll see where that takes us.

Little by little it's coming together.
